Even if you don’t have a farm theme going on in your home, this wooden dog kennel will look awesome in your home. Give your furry family members a nice place to sleep by building them their own bachelor pad using the provided plan from Ana White.
This here project is a bit tough and calls for a pretty big shopping list, which follows…
1 – 24″ x 36″ Pine Project Panel or 3/4″ plywood or MDF
5 – 1×3 Boards, 8′ Long
1 – sheet of 1/4″ plywood
4 – 1×2 Boards, 8′ Long
1 – set of hinges
1 – latch
1 1/4″ pocket hole screws
7/8″ wood screws (or shorter)
wood glue
wood filler
120 grit sandpaper
primer
wood conditioner
paint
paint brush
The kennel itself is massive! It has been stated that two fairly large dogs, both around 90 pounds, can fit comfortably inside the doggie home. Hardest part of this project will be trying to keep your pet from sleeping in it before it is complete, as someone using the design found out for themselves. The big open spaces in between the wooden bars makes your pet feel as if they aren’t confined which helps fix the problem of your little furry friends getting scared of confinement. Put aside a weekend for this one, and have fun making a very lovely home for your pets.
