I am sure that many of our readers have seen pictures of a picnic table with a cooler section in the middle. In fact, I am sure that many WoodworkCity readers have modified their own picnic table to incorporate an ice trough into the middle of the table.
Well, I came across this very nice plan to build a patio table with the ice trough in the middle . This is not a retro fit, but rather a full purpose-built design. The table is simple in style and very traditional. I am sure many of you have built a table in the past and wondered why the legs lacked support. This construction technique that incorporates a simple apron for stability will be something that you can apply to many future projects.
The link to the full set of plans can be found at the bottom of this post (look for the link that say “Free Plans”). There is a very nice section that includes a material list, cut list, tools needed, and cost breakdown. Nice job, Alex.
