A reader named Chad came upon our site and found the picnic shelter plans that we posted back in January, 2007. The original plans called for a footprint that was about 12′ x 20′. Chad was looking for something that was about 25′ x 30′ and asked if we had any ideas.
We did a little searching and were pleasantly surprised at the number of picnic shelter plans available online. The majority of the plans (blueprints really) were from universities and are free to download. The plan below is f or a picnic shelter that includes a kitchen. This is a terrific plan for a community pavilion, but you could really eliminate the kitchen portion if it isn’t needed. Click the image for the PDF plan download.
In addition to the above shelter plan, we included some links below to blueprints for shelters and other structures from a couple of organizations:
There are some FANTASTIC plans at the three sites listed above. The ones from NDSU are from the 1930’s as well as the ones from the Blue Ridge Parkway (at least the ones that we viewed). It is really a look back in time. There are plans for things like “fallout shelters. Very interesting.
Chad, If you do build a structure, upload some pictures using the comment form below. We would love to see it.
