The following is a terrific toy box plan that is simple and functional. This free plan comes from Home Depot Canada. Lucky for the US based woodworkers (me included) the plans are NOT in metric. They are standard.
Since these to box plans come from Home Depot, you will simply be able to print the plan and head to your local store to shop fore every item needed. This is the big benefit to plans that come from the major home centers. Simply print, shop, build!
The plan is basic and can be built in just a few hours (painting might take longer).

January 22, 2020 #2 AuthorCharles, I wish we had some insight. If I were to make a lid for this, I would probably use a piece of plywood with a lip of about 1/2″ on each side and the front. I would then trim the edges with thin wood strips or even use “iron on” wood edge banding.
I would then purchase hinges from the comment below from Rockler.com to ensure safe closing.
If you have a Rockler store near you, you could probably get some hands on assistance. Most stores have fantastic help.

November 29, 2011 #4 AuthorI built the toy box you shared on your web site, from Home Depot Canada, but now I can’t find any soft down hinges that will actually work with this design.

Any ideas?
