Free Longboard Skate Board Plans

My son has become an avid skateboarder and he sees the older kids riding by on long boards. Some of you might have already downloaded the free skate ramp plans. Of course, he would now like a long board. As a father, and woodworker, I will take it upon myself to provide a longboard from my son. A bit indulgent, but it is fun to show your kids that they can build anything that they want. Don’t be afraid to try.

A longboard is a nice project to build yourself, and with your kids. The style of the longboard can be customized to sue your taste and the graphics on the board can be one of the more fun projects you will be involved in.

We love providing multiple styles for the Adirondack chair. Everyone has their own taste and a style that is attractive to one person might not be to another. In fact, I know many woodworkers who will take all of the Adirondack plans in and mix and match the styles.

Some like the Adirondack chair style that is simple with a straight back (not as uncomfortable as you might think, and your guests might not overstay their welcome). While others like the low slung look like the plan you see in this post. Fair warning, seniors might not have the easiest time getting out of the low slung Adirondack Chair.

Personally, I appreciate the combination of form and function. A variation in the width of the back slats along with a nice taper to the slat is more pleasing to the eye (my opinion). There is a bit more work involved when compared to a simple slat that is a single width and not tapered, but with a plan and patience, your project can turn out terrific.

Cigar Humidor Plans Free

We offered a cigar humidor plan at WoodworkCity.com in the past, but it appears that the many changes a publisher goes through with a web site (Popular Mechanics in this case) forced this plan to disappear from their site.

Welcome to another Free Cigar Humidor Plan. Hopefully this one sticks around for a while. This free plan comes from the folks at Fine Woodworking. If you aren’t familiar with the magazine, you should give it a look. Stop by your local library and pick up an issue. The plans that they provide each and every month are incredibly detailed and will help you to hone your woodworking skills.

This plan is a relatively simple box design with a twist that calls for an edge band and inlay. The humidor is made from Spanish cedar (any humidor must be) and is constructed in a way to give you an air tight seal. Built correctly, your humidor should have no trouble maintaining the 70% humidity that your fine cigars will require. Need a humidifier and hygrometer?

Bathroom Shelf Plans

I found myself in need of an unusually sized bathroom cabinet or shelf recently. We are renovating a house built in 1889 and had a plumbing chase that has an access panel in an unusual size. I decided it would make sense to build my own cabinet /shelf to cover the chase for a number of reasons.

The size of the plumbing access hole is unusual and is at the perfect wall cabinet height.
We have some original beadboard from 1889 that would add some charm to our renovated bathroom.
I don’t like to overspend on items I can make on my own (most woodworkers have this sickness).

Children’s Picnic Table Plans

Everyone needs a picnic table in their back yard at some point. Most of us who have kids, and relatives with kids, also understand the need for a “KIDS TABLE”. It is like a rite of passage when a kid moves up to the grown up table. Even outdoors, we can carry the tradition of the kids table by building this wonderful, and simple, children’s picnic table.

This free plan is from KaBoom. Kaboom is an organization dedicated to playgrounds. They are a real authority when it comes to outdoor play spaces in communities throughout the nation. There are efforts that you can help with and community programs to be sure that there are safe play places in your own neighborhood.

The free plan above is a very standard picnic table plan. The scale is just right for kids and the link to the picnic table plan (click the picture above) will open a PDF file that is colorful, well laid out, and easy to follow.

Free Wooden Playset Swing Set Plans

We are 3 for 3 on the Free wooden play set plans in the past 3 days. It is June and the sun is shining, so can you blame us?

The following set of free plans is probably the most popular swing set / play set / backyard fort / sandbox plan over the past 10 years. You can buy this full set for about $700 at Wal Mart or move to the high end, in terms of quality, and spend more than $5,000 for a Rainbow Play System.

If you are like me, you won’t run out and buy a set, you will have to say “I can build that”!

Free Log Cabin Play House Plans

Looks like we are on a theme this weekend. As with yesterday’s free plans, today’s free plan is for an outdoor play structure. Maybe a fort tower plan wasn’t for you. Well, today’s free plan calls for something a little more rustic.

The following plan is a simple log cabin

12 Pressure Treated 2x8x8′—1 for ridge board, 11 for floor joists
18 Pressure Treated 5/4x6x8′ decking boards—This is 2 more than you need
60 4x4x8′ Pressure Treated (or 3 1/2x5x8′ landscaping timbers)—Walls
15 2x6x8′ Pressure Treated—Roof Rafters and Ceiling Joists
3 4×8′x1/2″ Pressure Treated Plywood—Roof Sheathing
1 Square Roof Shingles (3 Bundles)
20lbs 3-3 1/2″ Galv. Nails or Screws for wall, roof & floor construction
5lbs 2 1/2″ Galv. Screws for deck board installation
5lbs Galv. roofing nails

Free Log cabin play house plans

One thing that I want you to keep in mind is that this is not an inexpensive project to build. To be frank, any cool outdoor structure that is built to stand the test of time (and kids) will cost a couple of dollars to build properly. This free log cabin play house plan will set you back around $1,000 depending on the lumber prices in your area.

This really is a unique structure. One thing that you should keep in mind when building a play house project is the future use possibilities. If you will be storing lawn tools inside once your kids are out, be sure the door is wide enough to fit your lawnmower. If you will be using it as a garding shed, or potting shed, consider a little taller plan now so that you have the headroom in the future. Food for thought.
