If you have a canoe, kayak, or a small boat that needs to be moved from one location to another with any regularity, you will understand how important a set of wheels can be.

We recently purchased a cottage on Lake Erie. We generally leave our canoe down by the beach, but rough weather will often require that we bring it back up the hill to our cottage. The haul can be quite a chore and turns a 3 minute walk into a 15 minute job with stops and starts (and a lot of huffing and puffing when we are done). After the last trip, the need for a set of canoe wheels became clear.

Since I am a woodworker, and I build many items, I decided to locate a plan for the canoe, kayak, boat cart. The following plan is not very detailed, but it is a very nice simple design. The builder walks you through the steps, but you will have to come up with your own dimensions. This isn’t a bad thing since you might be building this cart for a specific boat/craft.

Growing up, my counsins and I had a cheap pastel colored plastic monstrosity play house that my parents gladly shoved in the back corner behind some bushes. This Free Club House Plan is not only the perfect play palace, it’s also an attractive addition to an outdoor living space.

What I like about this plan are the open windows that make watching the kids from a far a little bit easier. It’s a pretty simple build and an excellent way to get your child involved in a woodworking project. The authentic roof is a great touch and with some shelves or build in boxes it could double as a storage solution for toys scattered throughout the yard. When you are building this club house, consider the future use. When I built my own, I had a narrow door until a neighbor came by and asked if my lawnmower would fit through…. (cricket noise here, light bulb over head). The plan changed on the spot. An extra 4″ width on the door and I have a storage shed once my son vacates his play house!

I liked these particular plans due to the number of pictures at each step of the project. There are also some videos included. This ramp is modular and can be moved in three separate pieces. In fact, you could fit this into a standard single car garage.

There is a nice material list and a cost estimator for the material to build the skate ramp. Just plug in your local costs and you will know what you are getting into.

Good luck with this free skateboarding ramp plan. Let’s hope the aspiring Tony Hawk enjoys it and stays safe.

Some of you probably already saw our earlier bar plan Many people are out there searching for free bar plans. Unfortunately, this plan isn’t entirely free. However, there is enough of a demand that I felt it would help to provide our readers with a great plan and an additional resource to enhance the bar plan.

There is nothing like working with a wood plan that provides many detailed photographs of the project each step of the way. One of the key things is showing a picture of the setup of a saw or a tool prior to doing the job. This is a very detailed plan. It is well commented and has a good number of pictures. This bar might be considered fancy due to its raised panel design, but it really is a thing of beauty when completed.

I would rate this as a ‘difficult’ plan. Part of the reason that I would say so is because of the fact that it requires a number of tools that a weekend warrior would not have. It also requires some skill to pull some of the project off. The gentleman who built the bar even goes to the trouble of shaping his own rail. You could get away with purchasing your accessories and parts at Rockler.com. You are not compromising by doing so. The parts sold by Rockler will enhance your project and add to the professional look of your finished bar.

Free Bar Plans

I know it isn’t exactly the season to be building a project for your basement, rec room, or game room, but football season is just around the corner. So get started now and be ready. In fact, why don’t you be sure to work on the poker table as well.

The bar plans come from a Canadian plywood company. As you might expect, plywood is the core material for this bar. Honestly, any cabinet work that involves box type construction will use plywood.
There are real nice diagrams, cut lists, cutting layouts (a bonus) and expanded views of the bar to work with. You shouldn’t have trouble building this bar from these plans. They are very thorough. The real magic comes with your finishing touches. Consider some great bar hardware from Rockler Woodworking. If I was building this, I would probably use a nice granite tile for the top. Here is an article about installing granite tile countertop. You could modify the DIY article to fit your needs.

The poker craze may have died down a little bit, not much, but if you have a neighborhood poker game, or know an avid poker player, this is a great project. These poker table plans come from a guy named Ryan who has 4 different styles on his site (similar, but different). It is nice because Ryan isn’t trying to sell you anything, he is just providing a nice “how to” for building your very own poker table.

He has detailed pictures and instructions for 4 different tables (as of this writing on 2/16/2007). He also provides links to supply companies for the various poker table parts.
