This project was a great one that allowed me to work with my 9 year old son.  He was happy to work with the drill press to help with the holes and with the spindle sander to clean them up.

iPhone Amp Plan

I built mine by using 3 pieces of Cherry that were left over from a past project.  I love working with Cherry and the finish always turns out terrific.

There are 3 basic pieces.  I began with Part 2 since it had the most work and would be the least visible since it is sandwiched by parts 1 and 3.   Follow the Sketchup plan (click the image for the file download, or

To construct your own, fabricate each of the 3 pieces from the Sketchup plan.  Once you have your three pieces, align, glue, and clamp.  After mine was fully set, I flushed up the edges with my chop saw.  In addition to that, I wanted my iPhone amp to lean back a bit.  This would help to retain the iPhone and give a more professional (finished) look to the piece.  I set my saw blade at about 10 degrees and took a sliver off of the bottom.  I also decided to put a routed edge on the speaker holes.  I used a simple 45 degree chamfer bit.

Perform any finish sanding needed, apply your sealant, paint, or stain, and enjoy!

Sofa table / hall table plans

In my search for a wood plan, I located design that has such a fantastically detailed plan, drawing, and measurements that I had to share it.

This sofa table will look nothing like my finished project, but I wanted to include this transitional hall table for our readers. The measured drawings are terrific and the level of detail is what we hope for from every woodworking plan that we follow.

These Free Window Seat Plans are interesting way to recycle old wall cabinets or buy new ones to create a window seat to fit the size of your living space. The free plans include photographs from the original builder to help you every step of the way. Besides purchasing the cabinets all you really have to do besides construction, is build the frame under the window to fit them.

When completing the plan in my home while renovating our kitchen, we simply purchased extra cabinetry and the bench served a great piece that connected the design between our family room and kitchen.

Add texture and depth to your home with these Free Wainscoting Plans.  A lot of new “do-it-yourselfers” are slightly intimidated to by wainscoting. Although it does require precision and organization, this plan makes makes it a little simpler to add the elegant look to your home. It looks traditional, yet works in a contemporary setting.

I particularly like this style because it is inlaid, and appears as if it was always build to be a part of the wall. It gives a sleeker look compared to the usual mitered molding.  Just click on the image for the full how-to woodworking guide.

There probably isn’t an easier way to transform a dining room than this wainscoting method.  In fact, the interior panel is simply your existing wall.  Not only does this save material, but it drops the difficulty level down a notch or two.  The lack of the interior panel eliminates the need to rabbet the trim around the panel section.

This can als be a terrific wall treatment for a home office space.  You can get the look of rich wood with a darkish paint color on the wood and inset panel section.

This Free Corner Cabinet Plan shows how to use unoccupied corner in a kitchen efficiently. It’s a great place to store special glasses or cups away from those used every day. This Free Coffee Table Plan from Lowe’s is a good neutral piece of living furniture. It doesn’t adhere to any specific design, but remains a functional coffee table. It has clean lines and a sturdy structure. This plan comes complete with a full cut list and and some detail pictures to help you throughout the process.

These free plans for a folding screen provide an easy way to divide sections of a large room or just add some interesting depth to an empty wall. It is a great way to hide exposed heaters or unsightly wires. I paticularly like this free plan because it is a substantial screen without being a bulky portable wall.

A Vineyard Table is similar to Trestle Table. This Free Vineyard Table Plan features a hinged support system that allows the table to become compact and store easily. For that reason, it is a great table for occasional entertaining and looks a lot more aesthetically appealing than plastic and aluminum folding tables normally bought at super stores.
